Our part-time dance classes offer a flexible and engaging way for students of all ages to explore the world of dance. Designed for beginners and experienced dancers alike, these classes cover a wide variety of styles. 

QWDA offers the following classes for students aged 3 and up:

 

Classical Ballet โ€“ a beautiful and precise dance style characterised by its adherence to traditional techniques and formal structures. It emphasises elegant movements, intricate footwork, and excellent posture. QWDA trains students in both the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet syllabus and the Vaganova method.

 

Body Conditioning โ€“ a class typically combined with ballet training that focuses on building strength, flexibility, and endurance. The class aims to improve body mobility and muscle memory to build the physical foundation necessary for more advanced dance techniques.

 

Contemporary โ€“ a dynamic and versatile style that blends elements from various dance genres, including ballet, modern, and jazz. Focusing on expressive movement and fluidity, often incorporating improvisation and unconventional techniques.

 

Jazz โ€“ a spirited and bright style that combines rhythmic movements and expression. Rooted in African American cultural traditions, it incorporates elements from ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary dance. It is characterised by its syncopated footwork and strong focus on personality.

 

Chinese Dance โ€“ a rich and diverse style that encompasses various regional and classical forms. It is characterised by graceful, refined movements, intricate hand gestures, and expressive storytelling that highlights cultural narratives and symbolism.

 

Musicality in Motion โ€“ a unique class created in collaboration with our music department, Stellar Piano Academy, that combines ballet training with classical music. Discover more here.

 

Lyrical โ€“ a fluid and expressive style that blends elements of ballet and jazz to convey deep emotions and narratives. It emphasises smooth, flowing movements and strong emotional expression, often performed to lyrical or melodic music.

 

Hip Hop โ€“ a cool and energetic style emerging from urban street culture. Includes various movements such as breaking, locking, and popping, characterised by rhythmic and often improvisational techniques.

 

K-Pop โ€“ a dynamic and highly synchronised style characterised by sharp, precise movements and choreography. Originating from South Korea, it combines elements of hip hop, jazz, and contemporary dance with exciting, visually striking performances.
